Whitby Town Football Club will team up with Newcastle-based group Precision Fitness this week ahead of the second half of the season.
The aim of the link-up is to work with the Blues’ squad to improve fitness levels and get the side physically ready for the challenges that lay ahead over the rest of a demanding Evo-Stik Premier season.
The group will work on physical assessments of players initially, across a number of areas, before they devise unique, personal training programmes for each player.
“We’ve come along to help out Whitby Town in their efforts to be physically ready for the second half of the season,” a spokesperson for Precision Fitness said.
“We’re here to help them train what matters from a physical point of view.
“We take the players through some simple physical assessments that allow us to measure what matters in football; the ability to repeatedly sprint, press, change direction and jump.
“The process is similar to an MOT of sorts. We use the latest technology to measure how much force key muscles produce and absorb in key positions and movements.
“From here, we can provide the players and the coaches with an individual physical profile for each player. It’s this profile that helps us identify the things each player needs to focus on to get their bodies ready to tolerate and then thrive on the demands of the season.”
Precision Fitness’ link-up with Chris Hardy’s team will begin on Tuesday night (January 8).
