Blues captain and a highly-rated midfielder with Conference-level experience at the former Darlington FC club, where he began his career. He was then talent-spotted and subsequently signed by Huddersfield Town, before returning to Darlington 1883. A fine deadball taker and a determined runner at defenders, Dale was tracked by Darren Williams for some time before eventually signing for the Seasiders in August 2014, making his debut at home to Skelmersdale United. Hopson returned to the club in the summer, to much excitement, following a spell with Blyth Spartans. His last season with the Seasiders saw Hopson net 32 goals, as Whitby just missed out on the Evo-Stik Premier play-offs.
