Midfielder, Adam Gell said that he was frustrated as Whitby Town could only draw 1-1 with Lancaster City at the Turnbull Ground yesterday afternoon.
Gell did pick up the Man of the Match award, as chosen by our match sponsors, Playmaker Promotions, and matchball sponsor, Extrudakerb.
Despite receiving this accolade, the midfielder was disappointed that his side could only come away with one point against the Dolly Blues.
“I feel frustrated and disappointed,” said Gell.
“I feel that the three points were there to be taken so we’re all disappointed with that. Personally though, I’m fairly happy with how I played.
“I tried to give my all and work hard, and I felt that I managed to get around the pitch well, but I’ll also admit that I felt like my final ball was missing.”
In a fixture that was put in jeopardy prior to the match, with only a pitch inspection this morning declaring that the game would go ahead, players were always expecting difficult conditions.
And as Gell said from his experience playing on a heavy Turnbull Ground pitch, these expectations were proved true, also not helped by a strong wind.
“The conditions weren’t great,” Gell admitted.
“We maybe could have capitalised on the wind situation in the first half, and even in the second half, playing against the conditions, the game looked to be there for us.
“At the end of the day though, both teams have to cope with the conditions. We can probably expect something similar to this next week against Grantham.”
