Defensive nightmare going into Marine clash

Chris Hardy has been given a big defensive issue going into this afternoon’s clash with Marine at Rossett Park with several key names out of the squad.

The recent fixture schedule has appeared to take a toll on the Seasiders defence with Kev Burgess and Kieran Weledji now finding themselves on the injury list. Luke Bythway’s season is over.

To add to the defensive crisis, Jamie Poole, who has been a regular over recent weeks, is unavailable for the trip to Liverpool due to other commitments.

Captain, Steven Snaith, will also return to the sidelines. The midfielder returned to the starting line-up in Thursday’s defeat to Grantham however, it appears that his return was maybe premature as he finds himself out of the squad again.

Matty Tymon is also out for this one due to his ongoing suspension picked up in the 2-2 draw with Warrington Town at the Turnbull Ground.

This will be the third meeting between the two sides this season. The league fixture saw Whitby hold on for a 3-2 victory in a game which saw Davey Carson score a stunner.

The FA Trophy qualifying match went in the Mariner’s favour however, when they ran out 3-1 winners. The Lilywhites went on to have a great cup run, knocking out Merseyside rivals, Tranmere Rovers, at Prenton Park.

There will be LIVE commentary of the game on Whitby Town Radio from 3pm with Paul Connolly and Andrew Snaith.
