Alex White received the Man of the Match award in yesterday’s victory over Marine at the Turnbull Ground following another solid display at the back.
The Blues were put under some pressure from the visitors with White yet again being at the heart of a strong defence who have two clean sheets in the last three games.
And whilst picking up the Man of the Match award, the centre-back was just happy that his side could get over the line for a third straight victory.
“Our form is brilliant,” said White.
“It’s great winning three games on the bounce, and despite conceding a goal against Marine, we’ve been scoring goals which is good.
“In defence we’ve got a good combination and it’s what you need in a defensive three. We’ve got pace and good footballers which is part of our recent success.”
During the match, the Blues went a goal behind with ten minutes to go until half-time but equalised just two minutes later which was pleasing for everyone involved with the Seasiders.
This factor was pleasing and relieving for the centre-half who was frustrated in conceding the goal which was a blow given Whitby had some good chances early on.
“It was fantastic to equalise so quickly,” White revealed.
“It put us on the front foot again and it hit them where it hurt which I don’t think they enjoyed. It was also fantastic with our winner with Gell (Adam Gell) stepping up.
“It takes a talent to twist and turn in the box before scoring into the top corner. I don’t think many can do that so credit to him for helping us over the line.”
