The Blues battled back to earn a deserved draw at the Turnbull Ground against title-chasing Altrincham.
Former Hartlepool United and Salford City striker James Poole had forced home inside ten minutes for the Robins, who had the better of a disappointing first period, for the Blues.
However, the Seasiders were a different side after the interval. Skipper Steven Snaith was kicked in the head by a visiting defender, who was lucky to only get a yellow card. But further punishment was to follow when Davey Carson despatched the resulting penalty, just before the hour.
Blues piled on the pressure, aided by attacking substitutes John Campbell and Lewis Maloney, but couldn’t force a winner, despite a terrific display against one of the promotion favourites.
Whitby Town: Bland, Martin, McWilliams, Bythway, May, McGoldrick, Gell, Snaith (c), Weledji, Hume, Carson. Subs: Campbell, Maloney, Risborough, Fryatt, Dixon (GK).
