Whitby Town striker Matthew Tymon is unavailable for this evening’s Yorkshire Coast Derby at the Flamingo Land Stadium in the Integro League Cup due to work commitments.
Tymon has been praised this season for his commitment to Whitby Town, a prime example being the long trip made from Cumbria to Matlock Town in September. However, tonight he will be unable to feature in Chris Hardy’s attack.
Due to Tymon’s absence, the Whitby Town staff will be pleased to welcome back Junior Mondal to the starting eleven after he missed Saturday’s Buildbase FA Trophy exit to Witton Albion due to suspension. Mondal scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw when Whitby and Scarborough met in the league earlier this campaign.
Greg Rutherford also returned to the match day squad, and came off the bench on Saturday as he looks to return to full fitness following an injury which has interrupted his early life at the Turnbull Ground.
Also returning this evening will be centre-back Alex White who missed Saturday’s tie with a knock picked up during the week which meant that Chris Hardy wasn’t taking any risks.
Hardy does unfortunately have some injury concerns this evening with captain Dale Hopson, and right-back Josh Nearney considered injury worries tonight.
Chris Hardy spoke after Saturday’s match and emphasised about how little he hopes the match will motivate his players to get a results and “the bragging rights that the Whitby faithful want.”
“There will be a big crowd in there and it’s under the lights so that’s instantly big motivation for the team in the derby match against Scarborough”, said Hardy.
