Dale’s delight at award shortlisting

Dale Hopson has described his delight after making the final shortlist of five players for the Evo-Stik NPL Show’s Supporters’ Player of the season.

The midfielder has been on fine form this season, netting on twenty occasions as the Blues have shot up the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

His efforts on the pitch haven’t gone unnoticed, and after a raft of nominations, Hopson has found himself vying for the top award with just four others.

The 24-year old was excited to learn of his nomination, and believes that it’s his best achievement with the club to date.

“I’m delighted,” Hopson told whitby-town.com.

“It just goes to show that what you’re doing on the pitch does get noticed. It’s important for me.

“It’s one of my best achievements so far. I don’t remember being nominated for something like this before so obviously it’s been a good season for me.

“I just need to push on now and keep going to help the team.”

Hopson was nominated alongside Dan Maguire of Blyth Spartans, Elliot Rokka of Radcliffe Borough, James Walshaw of Farsley Celtic and Anthony Malbon of Kidsgrove Athletic.

The Blues’ top goalscorer, however, isn’t content with resting on twenty goals, and is aiming big to help catapult the Seasiders back into the top five and ensure he takes the award home.

“Hopefully I can make it thirty goals,” Hopson added.

“I set myself a target to score twenty at the start of the season but I’ve hit that now so why not push on and hit thirty.

“I don’t see why not, we have quite a few games left.”
