Whitby Town will kick off pre-season with a friendly against Billingham Town at Bedford Terrace.
Blues boss Chris Hardy will aim to balance out his starting eleven with senior players and some young trialists.
Youngster Elliot Anderson could be given a second chance after impressing in pre-season last year, including a late goal against Middlesbrough.
Soni Fergus could also be given the chance to gain a place in the first team for the Seasiders after impressing Hardy at the recent open trials.
The two Whitby lads could be joined by other trialists from the region. Hardy is aware, however, that he will need to play his regular first team players in preparation for the start of the league season in a month’s time.
One definite absentee from the squad on Saturday is Kieran Weledji. It is unknown as to who else will miss the fixture but Hardy will be keen to give as much of his squad a chance as is possible.
When speaking to the Whitby Gazette, the blues’ boss stated that the game will allow him to “look at some news lads but he needs to give our lads some minutes too.”
“They’ll be a mix, lads in and around the first getting minutes is the most important thing with the season fast approaching.”
The meeting at Bedford terrace will be the first between the two sides for 12 years when the a 2-2 draw was played out.
