Attendance -
Team - Whitby Team:- Campbell, Reid, Brumwell, Appleby (Claisse 45), Farthing, Wilford, McTeirnan (Hughes 45), Robinson (Scaife 45), Ormerod, Parkin, Raw (Veart 70).
Report - from BarneyC53 on the forum! - With former manager David Logan watching on, a very lacklustre performance from Whitby this evening.
Missing from the Whitby squad tonight were Brunskill, Richards, Escritt and Atkinson. Craig Veart made an appearance on the bench. A previous post may explain the absence of the latter two. No reason known for the absence of the former, but they were both sorely missed as Whitby lacked a cutting edge throughout the game.
Suffice to say the first half was a non event in the way of incident with both defences being on top and neither goalkeeper being forced to make a save of any kind, although Appleby did hit the post from a free-kick in the opening minutes
Changes were made at H/T and Hughes, Scaife and Claisse came on for McTeirnan, Robinson and Appleby. Whitby looked more dangerous down the right flank as a result but couldn't find the telling cross or pass. They were limited to two distance shots from Parkin and Brumwell, and a snap shot from Claisse which all went wide. Pickering also had similar chances but their finishing was equally off target. They only decent save of the match was made by Campbell, who dealt well with a cross which the wind caught and almost swerved into the net.
Craig Veart did make an appearance with twenty minutes remaining, replacing Tom Raw, but as weather conditions worsened, couldn't influence the outcome of the game.
Would not say there was a man of the match on either side tonight.
