Report -
Whitby Town slumped to bottom but one in the Unibond League premier division table after a thrashing..
It all started so promisingly for Whitby with Tom Raw passing a pre-match fitness test and in the early stages, he caused the Guiseley defence some trouble down the left flank.
Raw got in a shot that Guiseley keeper Steve Dickinson blocked but the whistle went for off-side.
The two sides were matching each other move for move early on without creating any real attempts on goal.
There were scouts in the house casting an eye over Blues striker Danny Brunskill but it was Guiseley's new striker Gavin Knight who bagged the limelight.
The former Barrow frontman bagged himself a hat-trick as Guiseley ran riot.
Knight looked hungry from the off but it wasn't until the 31st minute that he latched on to a Scott Jackson through ball, held off Jamie Poole and slotted the ball over the diving Jack Norton to open his account.
Ten minutes later he scored his second as Simon Sturdy's header back across the six-yard box evaded Jackson only for Knight to sidefoot home.
Just after the hour the effervescent Knight, seemingly hemmed in at the corner flag, created enough space to whip in a cross which Matt Smithard met with an overhead kick, taking Norton by surprise. While it looked like a certain goal, Scott Jackson slid in at the far post just to make sure.
Knight then combined in a sweeping move with Stuart Gray 'son of former Town manager Eddie Gray' before laying the ball off for Andy Wright to fire across Norton for Guiseley's fourth.
And just as it looked as though Knight would miss out on a hat-trick, Richard Dunning played a ball into space which the Guiseley striker lashed home from 18 yards.
Home keeper Steve Dickinson was rarely troubled by Whitby although the usually reliable Danny Brunskill put one just wide of the post before Guiseley had opened the scoring.
And winger David McTiernan had a powerful shot blocked by Sturdy just after the re-start.
