Report - Whitby Town moved to within 2 points of league leaders Workington with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Gateshead at the International Stadium tonight. After an even 20 minutes it was the visitors who broke the deadlock when Nick Scaife's low shot from 20 yards hit the back of the net on 22 minutes. The lead was doubled 4 minutes later through striker Steve Johnson's volley. It got better for the Blues when Liam Gildea scored 3 minutes from the break with a sweet left footer from just inside the area.
Gateshead missed two gilt edged chances, heading wide from 3 yards and slicing wide from 6 yards in the second half but Town had chances too especially when Anthony Ormerods fierce 25 yard effort clattered the woodwork, but it was a job well done for Dave Logan's men who are now 13 games unbeatenin al competitions.
