An awful Boxing Day display saw the Seasiders pegged back by Yorkshire rivals Farsley, at the Turnbull Ground.
After a great point on the road at Stourbridge, three days earlier, hopes were high going into this one. Chris Hardy again made one change as Junior Mondal replaced John Campbell up front.
The visitors had a goal ruled out before the break but promptly led, early in the second half. Paul Walker was the man on target, just before the hour. Town were then caught again, five minutes later, when the impressive Dan Cockerline nipped in to finish well for 2-0.
Whitby battled till the end, to their credit, but their afternoon was summed up when they won a penalty in injury time, only for Luke Bythway’s spot kick to be saved.
