FA Trophy 3rd Round

19th January 2005

Whitby Town 0 1 Hyde United
Tolson

Attendance - 249

Team - D.Campbell, Atkinson, Williams, Farthing, Linighan, Nicholson, Ormerod (Johnson 78), Bishop, Robinson, Gill (L.Gildea), A Gildea - subs not used - P Campbell, Escritt, McTiernan.

Report - apologies for the poor quality report - Whitby Town have crashed out of this season's FA Trophy.
A single goal from Hyde United striker Neil Tolson condemned the Blues to an unlucky exit on Wednesday night at the Turnbull.
It means the Blues have missed out on a money-spinning fourth round clash at Conference high-fliers Hereford United. Three missed chances late on also means Whitby have failed to break their club record of 19 consecutive games unbeaten. Danny Farthing struck a post and striker Graham Robinson blazed over from close range as the Blues could not capitalise on their late pressure.
And leading scorer Scott Nicholson, who hit a hat-trick on Saturday against Hyde, fluffed a gilt-edged chance in injury time to seal his side's fate once and for all.
Boss Dave Logan was "absolutely gutted" after the game and admitted that the missed chances had cost his side a place in the next round.
But he stressed the priority now was to win promotion from the Unibond League Premier Division. Tomorrow, the Blues must concentrate on their league cup quarter-final tie at home to Ilkeston, who have ex-Nottingham Forest striker Nigel Jemson in their squad.
Victory would put the Blues into the last four with the prospect of yet another game with Hyde to look forward to.
