FA Trophy 1st Qualifying

Report - Whitby Town produced a fine second half performance to see off first division Eastwood Town at the Turnbull today.
The visitors took the lead after they had hit both the bar and the post in previous attacks. Danny Farthing and Dave Campbell got in a mix up and the Knox nipped in to poke the ball home from the edge of the box.
Whitby slowly found some rhythm but were knocked out of their stride when influential midfielder Andy Brown limped off mid way through the half.
The Blues enventually found the back of the net when a deep cross from the left saw Aron Wilford outjump the away defence to nod the ball over the advancing keeper.
The second half was more one sided and Whitby took the lead on the hour when some lovely work from Wilford saw the big forward turn and fire home from inside the box for a superb goal. He made it a hattrick from the penalty spot when Scott Nicholson was needlessly pushed over in the box for an obvious penalty, Wilford sending the keeper the wrong way.
Wilford then grabbed his fourth goal when some good work from new signing Danny Brunskill saw him beat two players, round the keeper and lay the ball on a plate for the Whitby number 10 to side foot home.
Eastwood had Mitchell sent off for a second bookable offence with 15 minutes left but they grabbed a last kick of the game goal from Fisher who lashed home from 20 yards out before the ref blew for full time.
Whitby now visit Harry Dunn's revitalised Blyth Spartans on the 12th November in the next round.
