Report - from www.whitbytoday.co.uk - Whitby missed the chance to gain ground on the teams in the play-off spots after a disappointing game against mid-table rivals Farsley Celtic.
Just over 200 brave souls turned up to a bitterly cold evening at a windswept and rainy Turnbull ground.
And the fans who made the effort witnessed an end to end match which could have gone either way.
With Whitby kicking into the wind in the first half they made all the early running and Tommy Raw went close as early as the sixth minute when his shot from the edge of the box was palmed round the post by Morgan in the Celtic goal.
And Craig Veart nearly scored direct from the resulting corner with a little help from the wind.
On 15 minutes Whitby suffered a blow as Phil Brumwell went off injured and he was replaced by the returning Chris Hudson.
With most of the play in midfield, Farsley's first real effort on goal came in the 24th minute.
From a corner, defender Shields cracked a first time volley which Campbell did well to turn wide.
Five minutes later Danny Brunskill showed a good turn of pace below being hacked down on the edge of the box.
Veart stepped up and with the crowd expecting another piece of set-piece magic he put his effort well over the bar.
Two minutes later and it was Farsley's turn to go close.
The impressive Mark Bett got in a good header and Campbell produced a superb reaction save to turn his effort round the post.
Almost straight away Whitby nearly took the lead when a good run by Raw saw him find Scott Nicholson in the area but he poked just wide of the right hand post.
With the awful weather conditions dictating the play, Ormerod nearly scored when a header, which looked like it was going well over the bar, dipped and the keeper had to make a smart save.
Five minutes before half-time Whitby were inches from taking the lead.
Brunskill controlled a through ball and skipped round a defender before unleashing a 25-yard effort which looked destined for the top left hand corner before it smacked against the bar.
But two minutes before the break Farsley should have taken the lead when a good cross from Stamer was met by the head of Bett but he headed over from 12 yards out.
Blues' boss Dave Logan must have given his players a good talking to at half-time as they came out looking like a different side.
And with only four minutes gone of the second half they took the lead.
A free kick was taken quickly by Nicky Scaife 25 yards out and Tommy Raw ghosted in to head past the keeper.
With the crowd expecting Whitby to gain in confidence and finish the game off they seemed to lose their way.
And as the half wore on Farsley began to believe they could get something from the game.
On 63 minutes Bett raced through and hit the bar and with the rebound looking like a formality for Farsley Aron Wilford, playing at centre back, flew in to block the follow-up effort and preserve Whitby's lead.
But Farsley did not have to wait long for their equaliser.
Whitby's defence went to sleep and allowed Kevin Sanasay to run through unchallenged and he slotted home past Campbell.
With the full time whistle approaching it was Farsley who looked the most likely to score and on 89 minutes Sanasay smacked the post with Campbell beaten.
