Report - from www.whitbytoday.co.uk - Blues boss Dave Logan kept his players in the dressing room for an hour after the final whistle after another lacklustre performance from his mis-firing team.
Whitby began well enough in this FA Cup second round qualifying match and could have taken the lead in the 10th minute when Andrew Brown found himself in space on the right but he pulled his shot wide of the far post.
At the other end Phil Carratt and Mark Fitton fired wide from long range as Trafford fought hard to break down the solid Whitby defence.
With half an hour on the clock striker Aron Wilford outpaced Gareth Johnson but shot tamely at Damien Rooney.
A disappointing half came to a close with no team really threatening to score.
But the deadlock was finally broken in the 57th minute when an in-swinging free kick by the home side's Graham Vaughan was glanced home by Glyn Barker.
Almost immediately Barker had a great chance to make it two but saw his shot deflected wide and from the resultant corner Gareth Johnson's powerful header was cleared off the line by the desperate Whitby defence.
But Whitby rallied and scored three minutes later with a well worked equaliser.
Wilford heading a deep cross inside for Tom Raw to nod neatly home from close range.
In the 64th minute a good move ended with Graham Vaughan curling in a shot that was well held by Dave Campbell.
And nine minutes later Campbell breathed a huge sigh of relief when he escaped a red card for handling the ball outside his area.
Vaughan fired the resultant free kick inches wide of the post.
Whitby brought on substitute Nick Scaife who immediately went close with a free kick following a reckless challenge by Simon Woodford.
But it was Trafford who had the best chances to win the tie and in the 86th minute Glyn Barker miskicked from six yards following a link-up between Vaughan and Carratt.
And two minutes later Campbell saved superbly to keep out a thunderbolt from Mark Fitton and keep Whitby in this year's FA Cup.
