Report - from www.whitbytoday.co.uk - Whitby Town boss Harry Dunn said "a moment's daftness" cost his team all three points at high-flying Droylsden on Saturday.
The Blues were leading 1-0 thanks to Craig Veart's 68th minute penalty and looked as though they might increase their lead.
But it all went wrong when goalkeeper Adam Clementson was sent off for retaliating to a challenge from the home side's Darren Morris.
Dunn said the incident happened following a foul by Morris which resulted in a free-kick being given to Whitby.
He said the challenge changed the whole complexion of the game.
"Unfortunately, the keeper lost his composure and retaliated," he said.
"He pushed his head into the lad's face too forcibly but you just cannot do that.
"The referee was right, we would expect their lad to get sent off in similar circumstances."
Whitby left Droylsden's home, the Butchers Arms, in disbelief at the result.
In the first half, Whitby played some lovely one-touch football and dominated the game. They should have gone in front in the sixth minute when a Craig Veart cross was put over the bar by Gary Browne.
Another Veart cross four minutes later was headed over from 10 yards by Robinson with the keeper in no man's land. On 22 minutes, a succession of corners saw first Brian Linighan then Anthony Ormerod put headers over the bar when they should have done better.
Droylsden's only effort was a 25-yarder from Darren Wright which flew straight to Clementson.
Mark Swales, who came on as a substitute for Paul Campbell, hit a rasping shot from 25 yards which hit a post.
An Ormerod effort on the half-hour was tipped over the bar by Paul Phillips in the home goal and the striker hit a post shortly afterwards.
In the second half, Whitby continued to control the game and it was no surprise when they took the lead when Robinson was fouled in the box and the referee awarded a penalty.
Veart smashed home the spot-kick for his sixth goal of the season. A minute later, Browne's 25-yard effort was brilliantly turned round the post by Philips.
The game turned round on 70 minutes when Clementson was red carded and Mark Obern took over the jersey.
He was called into action within two minutes, making a good save at the feet of Danny Byrne. But he was beaten on 76 minutes when Jed Murphy found Byrne who drove the ball home.
Whitby came back strongly but Robinson wastefully shot over the bar after Ormerod teed him up.
Droylsden scored the winner in the 90th minute when a Murphy shot was deflected by Linighan past the stranded Obern, much to the dismay of the Blues fans and players in a game Whitby really should have sewn up at half-time.
Dunn added: "It was disappointing in the respect that they got frustrated and had used all their subs and we were getting through the game pretty canny.
"They were not putting much pressure on, it was petering out to a 1-0 or 2-0 to us and we came away with nothing."
